A Cat’s Prayer

Andre was found on the side of the road on Route 17. He was thought to be injured or dead. Someone picked him up and called C.A.T.S.; he had not been injured, but he was extremely weak as a result of dehydration and starvation; because he was so malnourished, his head was bigger than his body. Did we mention that he was also blind?

He was brought to our wonderful vet who immediately hydrated him; blood work was impossible because of his weakened condition. He could barely stand. Once in foster care he had to remain in a cage to keep from hurting himself ; he was given baby food and KMR, as well as Rx canned food; when he was strong enough blood work was conducted. As if his condition weren’t bad enough, we learned that he has a thyroid problem and must be medicated every day. He also tested positive for FIV.

Now most people would wonder how a happy ending was possible for a 15 year-old cat with all this baggage. However, after months of rehab in foster care, someone came along and agreed to adopt and love Andre for the rest of his life.
